Swedish Massage One of the most well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation, relaxing overused muscles, and stimulating lymph flow. This style combines long, firm strokes with kneading and rolling movements to manipulate the soft tissues of the body, all flowing toward the heart. Swedish massage incorporates the use of oils and lotions. The client is disrobed and covered according to their level of comfort. The countless benefits to the body include relaxation, release of chronic muscular tension, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation. Offered in 60 or 90 minute sessions. Deep Tissue Massage Deep tissue work pin-points and addresses localized tension that results from stress, injury, and habitual patterns of posture and movement. It relies on the application of pressure to release chronically shortened muscles and fascia. Deep tissue work is gentle and slow, working through superficial layers to reach problematic muscle tissues, re-establishing their capacity for independent movement Zen Shiatsu with Eric Kerr, CMT Zen shiatsu is a form of bodywork based in traditional Chinese medicine. Traditionally performed on a mat with the client fully clothed, the work blends acupressure with stretching and range of motion techniques to facilitate the flow of the body's natural energy. Pressure is applied to all parts of the body, along specific pathways (meridians), using palms, fingers, thumbs, forearms, elbows, knees and feet. Thai Massage with Eric Kerr, CMT Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, incorporates muscle compression, joint mobilization and acupressure along energetic meridians known as Sen lines. Passive yoga streches makes this type of massage both relaxing and energizing. Similar to Shiatsu, this style of massage is performed on a mat with the client fully clothed. Minimum of 90 minutes per session.
